Opening Our Newest Store in Godalming

We’re delighted to announce that our new store is now open in Godalming, a historic town full of character. This project has been in the works for a few years, and we’re excited to finally open the doors.

We’re always on the lookout for new opportunities in towns across the UK that feel very us, places with community spirit and a friendly buzz on the high street. Godalming was an obvious choice! The town was also the setting for the iconic shopping scenes in The Holiday, making it the perfect place to settle in for the run-up to Christmas. We’ve made our home in a beautiful old bank on the High Street (and yes, the vault is still out the back, we’ve even tried to work it!). The space has been styled in our signature Vinegar Hill way, with a few fresh touches we can’t wait for you to see.

As many of you know, we’ve always been a family-run business, founded by siblings Beth, Debbie, and Richard, who share the same goal: to create special places on the high street to shop for unique pieces you won’t find anywhere else. Bringing a new shop to life takes teamwork from across the business, from researching the right town to welcoming our new team members.

We joined our talented builders, John and Simon, to start unpacking the mountain of boxes, doing our best to keep things somewhat orderly! Once the stock was unloaded and placed according to plan, our Visual Merchandising Director, Claire, came in to work her magic.

If you’ve visited our shops before, you’ll know we love to change our styling with the seasons to make sure you always leave feeling inspired. It takes plenty of creativity, planning (and more than a few cups of tea) to get every detail just right. As you can see from the snaps below, the shop truly comes into its own once Claire has visited.

Opening a new store is such a rewarding experience, with the cherry on top being the moment we open our doors to a new community. We have been lucky enough to meet some amazing local people so far, and can’t wait to see many more faces as we get settled in.
